mom like this art I made. especially with letter on it. here what it said;

I miss you when we’re not together
I’m growing up so fast
See how big I’ve gotten
Since you saw me last?
As I grow, I’ll change a lot,
The years will by right by
You’ll wonder how I grew so quickly
When and where and why?
So look upon this handprint
That’s hanging on your wall.
And memories will comeback of me,
when I was very small

St Joachim Primary School

Dear Parents,
We recently held a very successful Gala Event at our school in collaboration with Catholic Missions. The aim of such events for Catholic Missions is to enable people from different backgrounds to come together and share common values, cross the necessary bridges for cultural understanding and enrich friendships.
The Sudanese community decided to host the Gala Event by cooking their food, showing their song, dance and fashion in appreciation of all who have shared their journey in Australia. The event was attended by 280 people and on behalf of Catholic Missions I wish to thank our staff and parents for their participation in planning and supervising the events on the day. The Gala Event demonstrated Christian values in practice through the getting together to make it a success and most importantly the wonderful spirit of friendship which was so evident.

Our Refugees

Dear Jesus,
when King Herod heard
that you had been born in Bethlehem,
he sent men to find you so that he could kill you. Mary and Joseph took you and escaped to Egypt.
You were refugees, far away from your own country.
Today, please be with the many families who must escape from their own country, and become refugees.
I pray that you watch over them as they travel, and give them safe places to live.
Help us to welcome people
who must escape from their own country like you did.
Open our hearts to our refugees, and fill their hearts with the hope, that one day they can go back home to the land they love,
or come to love Australia as their home
.

ALL STUDENT DESERVE TAX PAYER SUPPORT
MP Julia Irwin is out of step with education reform (October 24th, 2008)
It is an old argument beloved by teachers’ unions which, even when uttered in the parliamentary chamber, does not withstand scrutiny. The latest available figures for recurrent government spending - state and federal combined - show state ‘School students receive substantially more taxpayer support. Each public school student received $11,243 in 2005¬2006, compared with $6287 per private school student. State schools are funded mainly by states, with revenue derived from the commonwealth, mainly through the GST. The overall commonwealth figures also reflect the fact that in the past decade, the independent school sector has grown substantially compared with the government sector.
Flimsy financial arguments apart, the real opposition is driven by something else - a modem, twisted sectarianism. Unlike the religious divide of the early 20th century Australia, this modem phenomenon opposes religious education per se - not only in Catholic parish schools, but in schools of all denominations, including Jewish, Islamic and other non-Christian faiths.
In educating 33 per cent of Australian children overall and more than 40 per cent at senior secondary level, private schools are a vast saving for taxpayers. Were they to cease operating, the imposts on taxpayers would be crippling. At the 2004 election, Labor paid a heavy price for Mark Latham’s class warfare “hit list” of 67 private schools that would have had their funding cut and III that would have had it frozen, had he been elected.
While no funding model is perfect, the SES model differentiates between wealthier and poorer schools. It is the most effective model used to date. Under it, some of the nation’s wealthiest independent schools receive as little as $1690 per student, while poorer private schools receive as much as $7690 per student - well short of the average for state students.
The Australian supports choice in education as a means of reinforcing parents’ values, as opposed to the values of most teachers’ unions. We also support better resourcing of all schools. IT infrastructure, good libraries and science laboratories are vital for the complexities of 21st century education. A good curriculum and good teachers, however, are even more important.

INFORMATION FOR PARENTS ON THE FUNDING OF CATHOLIC SCHOOLS
Do School fees cover the cost of your child’s education?

No. Your school fees are very important, but education in 2008 is an extremely expensive undertaking. Together, the State and Federal governments provide about 80% of the funds for Catholic school in NSW.
For Catholic school, the remaining 20% is made up by fees, building levies and other charges paid by parents, assistance from the parish (for Primary School) and fundraising activities. Even when school fees are taken into account, there is a significant gap in the resources available to Catholic systemic school compared to government schools.
